West Haven Child Development: Early Head Start Program
What is Early Head Start?
Early Head Start-CCP programs provide family-centered services for low-income families with very young children. These programs are designed to promote the development of the children, and to enable their parents to fulfill their roles as parents and to move toward self-sufficiency.
Who is Eligible?
Children from birth to age three from families with low income, according to the Poverty Guidelines by the Federal government, are eligible for Early Head Start services.
Additionally, eligibility factors include:
Families experiencing homelessness
Families involved in the foster care system
Families receiving public assistance (SNAP, SSI, or TANF)
Families with a child who has a diagnosed disability or developmental delay
How do I Apply?
Please call our Social-Emotional Coordinator, Christine, at (203) 932-2939 to request an application, more information about the enrollment process, eligibility requirements, and available openings.
You can also complete an application directly through our website (please check “Early Head Start” under program preferences on the WHCDC initial application). Please email application and supplemental materials to westh@snet.net, or drop them off in person.
What to Include in Application:
Address Verification: Current utility bill in your name (Gas, Electric, Phone, or Cable) to verify that you are a West Haven resident.
Income Verification: 1 month worth of paystubs, W2 or 1040, TANF documentation, SSI documentation, unemployment documentation (only submit what is applicable)
Age Verification: A copy of your child’s birth certificate
